Professional Career Lisa Garbe is a a doctoral researcher at the Intitute for Political Science. She is currently a visiting PhD researcher at the Centre for Digital Governance at the Hertie School in Berlin and was previously a visiting Ph.D. researcher at the Oxford Internet Institute for the academic year 2019-2020. In her research, she examines the ownership of internet service providers across Africa and consequences for the availablity of internet access and hence democratization. Her research interests include authoritanism, comparative politics, and the political dimension of information and communication technologies. She is interested in combining quantiative statistical with qualitative methods and spent several months in East Africa for field research.
